“The impact of the glasses on Everman students, has truly been phenomenal.
Everything you can measure in the school district has improved. Our discipline referrals for behavior have gone down across the board.
“I thought I was inadequate or I thought I was doing something wrong.”
The first change was the huge smile on their faces. Attendance improved. Behavior improved. Grades improved. Confidence improved. Increase in academic performance. All that not only for these children but of the children sitting next to them who are no longer being distracted.
These changes happened almost immediately.
In 2009 the district was rated ‘Academically Acceptable’ by the Texas Education Agency. In 2010/2011 this district of children who live in poverty was rated ‘Recognized’ by the Texas Education Agency. No one could understand how students from that demographic could be as successful or more so than many other districts in Tarrant County.
That campus had the highest scores on the Staar testing than it ever has had so high in fact that campus earned 4 academic distinctions, in reading, writing, math and overall student achievement.
The high school campus, which has never received academic distinctions, received three academic distinctions. Last year the high school had a 100% graduation rate in the class of 2013. 100%!
